small but robust bluetoothMay 16, 2009

Before i begin my review of this product i have read over 40 feedbacks that appear to like this blutooth with the positively small form and lightest compared to most out there and the A2dp is a plus that sealed the deal for me to purchase at such a low price almost 80% off from original retail(released last year).
Going back to those reviews that hated it not because of the product performace volume incomong outgoing clarity etc were fine, the most common complaint was the "FIT" and i definitely agree to a certain extent that this is not the most comfortable one out there...if comfort is your basis you cant go wrong with almost any plantronics with the ear clip behind the ear as support. As far as my personal experience with this one (after an hour of trying the 7 other ear gels that came with mine)managed to keep it on comfortably for least 3-4 hours on 1 ear then putting it other ear. which is fine with me since i usually just use while driving and occasional kept it on in office settings. personally after trying all the eargel sizes(very invasive by the way) the one that fit me well was the one without the "loop" and a quarter couterclockwise turn that anchors the tip of the eargel to the inner rim of my ear hole for lack of medical terminology this works the best for me...hope it does to you.

Good Fit, Great Noise SuppressionApr 27, 2009
By quietfart Pros:
- Fit: I personally dig the fit. There are 3 different-sized eargels that come with the headset (S, M, L), 2 of each. Read carefully in the product description to ascertain if the headset comes with these eargels; some websites that offer this product at a lower price just pack it in a plastic bag and don't include all the eargels. I bought mine from SF Planet here on Amazon and everything was there. I have small ears and have gone through many headsets trying to find one that fits well, meaning 1) it doesn't hurt my ear and 2) won't fall out if I tilt or shake my head. This one fits the bill (I use the default medium eargel). If I wear it for over an hour it'll start to make my ear a bit sore, but if I switch ears, I'm good for at least another hour. (I have tried Motorola, Latte, Jawbone, Logitech headsets that don't meet my fit criteria. However, this is of course a personal preference.)
- Noise suppression: works very well. People tell me they can tell I'm driving (even in loud rain), but can hear my speech clearly.
- Charging: when you charge it, the light changes colors to tell you if you're <70% charged, >70% charged, and 100% charged. Handy to know where you stand on battery life.
- Battery life: I've used my headset up to two days with intermittent use without having to charge.
- A low-battery warning that is not audible to callers: YOU can hear the low-battery warning, but the person you're talking to cannot. This was a feature I have come to appreciate due to a previous headset (Latte) blaring a loud annoying beep every 5 secs for all to hear when running low on battery, disrupting conversation.
- No annoying big flashy blue light: the flashing lights on this headset are muted and do not blind anyone looking at you. Also, if you lay the headset on your desk, it will start flashing multiple colors (again, muted) when the phone rings (handy if you must have your phone on silent but want to know when people call in).
Cons:
- position of the button is awkwardly placed, about 1 cm too forward. Pushing the button which just one finger without securing the headset with your other fingers makes it almost want to come out of your ear and kind of smash against your cheek.
Weird bug:
- I use a Nokia 6103 phone with this headset. Sometimes when I pair the headset, it activates the mp3 player automatically so the music starts streaming thru the headset, and I have to manually turn off the phone's mp3 player. Slight annoyance, but not a dealbreaker.
I previously owned a Jabra BT125 which is the only one that fit me better than this one, and the button placement was much better, however it did not have noise suppression as the BT8040 does. Jabra customer support has been very responsive to me in the past, and that further encourages me to buy Jabra products in the future. Overall, the BT8040 is so far the best headset I've used.

Awesome bluetooth. No longer do i get the little rubber piece falling off and sticking in my ear! I am only concerned that it is so small - am I going to lose it before I am ready to get rid of it? Clarity and sound is great. Ease of use is great. So far this is the best bluetooth i have owned and the price made this a great purchase

Serves its purpose wellJan 25, 2009

I have a problem: I am deaf in one ear. Stereo headphones mean that I miss half the music. After finally becoming a Pod-Person in November, unhappy with the standard iPod earbuds I determined I needed a wireless bluetooth monaural solution. I got a Sony TMR-BT8iP Adapter and this device and paired them. It works great! I'm still struggling to figure out volume control and other similar things, the Jabra arrived with no instruction manual. Other than that, I am very happy indeed.
Great Bluetooth headsetOct 13, 2009
By GeneH This is a great Bluetooth headset. I have tried several, and all leave something to be desired--not so with the Jabra 8040.
It's small and I love the in-ear fit. Most people I talk to cannot tell I'm on a bluetooth headset. With other headsets, I would often hear "we have a bad connection." No one has ever said that with the Jabra. The sound quality is simply subperb.
Three more great features: 1. It uses a micro USB (not the Motorola mini-USB), which is great because that is what my new blackberry curve (8900) uses. 2. It's a stereo headset, so it can hear music or sound files from the blackberry (like voicemails forwarded through email). 3. It can connect to 2 devices at once, so I can have it connected to my office phone and my blackberry at the same time. Range is good--I can get about 20-25 feet away before the headset has noticeable interference.
Finally, I was able to get this on Amazon Marketplace (from Closeout Masters) for about $30, including shipping. Unbelieveable! And it came with a charger and the interchangeable ear buds (some bulk packages from some retailers don't include the extras--read the fine print).
